Hey guys,

which cutting machine would you buy ???

-CraftROBO Pro CE5000-40-CRP (A3) - about  $1,095.00
http://www.graphteccorp.com/craftrobo/about.html

or

-Klic-n-Cut MAXX24" -  $1,199.00

The guys from Modelab ( modelab.nu ) have been using the Klic-n-Cut with awesome results ( http://studiomode.nu/mode/1443 , http://modelab.nu/?p=2371 , and more).

But craftROBO seems to be the most commonly used machine (also with pretty good results: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31375127@N07/sets/ )

What do you guys think?

What are the PROs and CONs?

What is your experience?

I have followings:

a) CraftROBO Pro CE5000-40-CRP, b) Craft ROBO CC200-20 and c) CraftROBO CC330-20

For designers and artists b) is the best for the price.

The maker has changed the model to c) now.

c) has more function over b) such as SD card reader, but they are almost no use for me.

b) has a pen adapter that now sold separately.

If your local agent still have b) in stock, your are lucky.

a) is big, strong, fast and reliable.

b) and c) are light and small enough to be used on your office table or even in Shinkansen train.

I would like to know the comparison between d) Klic-n-Cut MAXX24" and a).

I gave up importing d) just because the importer in Japan set the price more than $2,000.

Cutting force is a useful measure, as this determines the thickness of materials you can cut. The Klic-n-cut has a lot of cutting force compared to most other brands - it seems Studio Mode have been using it for polypropylene (not sure what thickness). You should also try contacting the Roland rep who is a member, as they are running their machine directly from Rhino, if that is useful for you...

So it seems like each brand has one main advantage (correct me if I am wrong):

-craftROBO: the most commonly used, the biggest community, the easiest to buy if you are abroad and so on...

-Klic-N-Kut: the strongest: 950 grams of cutting force (comparatively to craftROBO: 230g and Roland: 250g)

-Roland: runs directly from Rhino (I haven't tried but I am guessing it is a huge time saver. Have you tried Gregory?). But Roland's 24" costs $2,095!!! Almost double than the others!!

Klic looks like a good choice, considering the cutting force... I would get that.
