Thanks Greg.

Unfortunately I couldn’t make it but an ex-colleague presented one of my projects with Anish Kapoor. I am currently working on a number of pavilions and installations in which I am investigating folding combined with principles of adaptability.  I look forward to chatting to you about these. Iam currently working with Dan Piker's latest version of Kangaroo.

Thanks Greg,

I'm awaiting some new thin magnesium sheet from MgF Magnesium Flachprodukte GmbH and love to get inspiration for folded jewel-style constructions.

Thanks this is a great site and a great group, I have always been very interested in robotics but it was when I found Self-reconfiguring modular robotics I really got involved, it is so fascinating!

I am researching computational origami to use as skins and membranes in Self-reconfiguring modular robotics I will come back soon with lots of questions!

I found interesting portable cut and grooving machine for gypsum boards. It is for straight grooving/cut with manual operation. It has potential to be digitally controlled for curved grooving/cut.

Hello, Gregory
I added some new curved fold study on my flickr set.

I hope you like them.

Hi Gregory, Let me know when you get to SE1! At the moment I am looking at folding materials from a different viewpoint than yourself - how to add enough stiffness and compressive strength to fabric so that it can hold its own form. I have been starching, laminating and pleating, slowly increasing the scale in the hope that it can be a 1:1 architectural structure. Currently it is handmade rather than digital. We will see!

what do you need?
indeed i am supposed to look those files, because the ones on the web are not the ones i made. we got some trouble, then boss wanted to do himself. so my grasshopper definition was different.

Industrial Origami car concepts

Some interesting investigations into structural and aesthetic use of straight and curved folding in a commercial context (cars appear around the 20 minute mark):

Autodesk University: Labs photogrammetry

Just in a class using Photo Scene Editor at Autodesk University - new photogrammetry software - basically it stitches your photos on their servers to create a 3D model. I tried this before the class... not sure if I'm going to learn anything new. What I wanted to learn was how export this as a mesh, which doesn't seem to be enabled in the download. Will update soon on this feature...

Klic looks like a good choice, considering the cutting force... I would get that.

Gregory Epps replied to Julio Radesca's discussion 'craftROBO or Klic-n-Cut? PROs and CONs?' in the group CraftROBO
Cutting force is a useful measure, as this determines the thickness of materials you can cut. The Klic-n-cut has a lot of cutting force compared to most other brands - it seems Studio Mode have been using it for polypropylene (not sure what…
